Fans of Scottish rock and classic British music are in for a treat in 2027, with Glasgow legends Simple Minds returning to Australia and New Zealand for a major arena tour celebrating 50 years of music.

Joining them will be one of the most influential figures in modern electronic music, English synth-pop pioneer Gary Numan, making his first tour of Australia and New Zealand in more than a decade.

For many music lovers, it’s a pairing that helped shape the soundtrack of the late 1970s and 1980s.

Formed in Glasgow in 1977, Simple Minds went on to become one of the world’s biggest bands, selling more than 60 million albums and producing an extraordinary run of hits including Don’t You (Forget About Me), Alive and Kicking, Promised You A Miracle, Waterfront, Belfast Child, Sanctify Yourself, She’s a River and Let There Be Love.

Led by founding members Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill, the band remains a powerful live act, continuing to fill arenas around the world. Their enduring popularity was underlined recently when Don’t You (Forget About Me) joined Spotify’s prestigious Billions Club.

While Simple Minds brought a Scottish flavour to stadium rock, Gary Numan was helping invent the future. Rising to fame with groundbreaking hits Are ‘Friends’ Electric? and Cars, Numan pioneered a distinctive electronic sound that would influence generations of artists across rock, synth-pop, industrial and alternative music.

More than 45 years after those early chart successes, Numan continues to attract critical acclaim for his dark, atmospheric recordings and intense live performances.

The V Tour 2027 promises a celebration of two artists whose influence extends far beyond their biggest hits. Between them, they have helped shape the sound of modern popular music and continue to draw audiences across generations.

As frontman Jim Kerr puts it: “Simple Minds go back a long way with Australia and New Zealand. The thrill of performing for our fans down there never wears off.”
