Scheduled for Saturday, June 21 at 6pm, this free community event promises an evening filled with the stirring sounds of bagpipes, dynamic Highland dancing, and feats of strength by Highland athletes.
Organised by the Barossa & District Pipe Band, the parade will start at 6pm from Jane Place in Tanunda. Participants will march along the main thoroughfare, culminating at the intersection of Murray Street and Basedow Road.
The spectacle features massed pipe bands from across South Australia, Highland dancers, and formidable Highland strongmen and women, all illuminated by flaming torches that create a mesmerising atmosphere.

Winter Flame has grown into the band’s most significant annual event, drawing increasing numbers of participants and spectators each year. The sight of kilted musicians and dancers performing under torchlight offers a unique experience that resonates with audiences of all ages.
Winter Flame 2025 not only celebrates Scottish traditions but also fosters community spirit in the heart of South Australia’s wine country. The event is held mid-June to coincide with the winter solstice celebrations. Residents and visitors alike are invited to witness this spectacular event.
Organisers are seeking the assistance of volunteers to act as bearers to carry the torches during the parade. As expected, this is a very important part of the parade and they require participants be over the age of 18 for safety reasons. They have responsible marshals in attendance before and after the parade, to handle the lighting and also extinguishing of the torches.
