The Bundanoon Highland Gathering, affectionately known as Brigadoon, is set to return on 5 April, marking its 44th annual celebration. This cherished event transforms the tranquil village of Bundanoon in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales into a vibrant hub of Scottish culture and tradition.

The day’s festivities will commence at 9am with a lively street parade, featuring over 25 pipe bands, clans, and Scottish societies. Following the parade, the official opening ceremony will take place at 10am on the Bundanoon Oval, led by the Chieftain of the Day. 

Attendees can look forward to a spectacular massed pipes and drums display. Organisers said: “The sheer pageantry of the display has to be seen to be appreciated; the magic of the occasion leaves one breathless.” 

Throughout the day, the festival will offer a variety of traditional Scottish activities and entertainment. Highland dancing competitions will captivate audiences with their grace and precision, while the Australian Highland Heavyweight Championships will showcase feats of strength in events such as caber tossing and stone putting. The Bundanoon Stones are always a highlight of the day. 

At the Oval, there will be more than 80 specialist stalls selling everything Scottish, from pies and shortbread to clan memorabilia and souvenirs.

For those interested in exploring their Scottish heritage, the Clan Village will provide insights into various clans and their histories. 

Children can enjoy the Bonnie Bairns competition, storytelling sessions, and a range of games designed especially for them. 

A diverse selection of food stalls will offer both traditional Scottish fare, including haggis, and international cuisines to satisfy all palates. 

The day will culminate in a massed pipes and drums finale at 4pm. 

Tickets for Brigadoon 2025 are now available for purchase online. Prices are as follows: Adults $25, Concession $20, Children (5 to 17 years) $10, and Family (two adults and two children) $60. Group pricing is also available for groups of 20 to 50 people at $20 per person.
