DonateDonate monthlyDonate yearlyHalloween is always a strange time of year in Australia. A celebration that’s themed around the closing in of night, celebrated here when spring is blooming all around and we can feel the days getting longer and hotter. It sure is an upside-down world down under.
After much resistance, Australia has taken Halloween to its heart and celebrations this year include a new Halloween festival in Sydney. We look at Samhain celebrations here and in Ireland, Wales and Scotland.
But, of course, it’s spring, with flowers blooming all around. So, we are celebrating the colourful season of new life too with a look at the spectacular Tesselaar Tulip Festival in Victoria, who will max the craic this month with their Irish Weekend.
South Australia is coming together to party at the Fleurieu Folk Festival this month. The festival is celebrating its 18th birthday with an impressive lineup of folk, Celtic and other acts from around the world. Among the highlights are Alan Reid from Scotland and Edwina Hayes from the UK.
