The Bony Mountain Folk Festival is a much-anticipated annual event, returning from September 20th to 22nd,  with an exciting lineup of performers and a variety of activities that promise to entertain attendees of all ages. Nestled in the picturesque Bony Mountain region near the city of Warwick in Queensland, this festival is a true celebration of folk culture, music, and community spirit.

This year’s festival boasts an impressive array of artists, ensuring a diverse and dynamic musical experience.

Artists include The Barleyshakes with their Irish sounds, singer/songwriter Alice Benfer, ukulele master Mick Angeles, singer/songwriter and third-generation Irish Australian Norma O’Hara Murphy, Warwick Thistle Pipe Band, and the Wheatvale/Warwick Combined Choir.

The festival is not just about music; it’s a full immersion into folk culture. Expect camp oven cook-outs, a doggie parade, and a fire twirler!

Festival host Norma O’Hara Murphy says: “We are excited to welcome our first dedicated fire twirler this year, seeing as how most of us are firebugs! He will be sensational! We welcome Tyrone Phillips to Bony Mountain!”

Attendees can look forward to traditional bush poetry from Gary Fogarty, adding a lyrical and narrative element to the festivities.

The festival is family-friendly with lots of activities.

The artisan markets are a highlight, featuring local craftspeople showcasing unique handmade goods. The bazaar offers pre-loved clothing, who doesn’t love a bargain?

Workshops are another integral part of the festival, providing opportunities for festival-goers to learn new skills. This year there will be art and ukelele classes.

The festival’s community-oriented environment fosters a sense of camaraderie and connection among attendees. Camping facilities are available on-site, encouraging visitors to fully immerse themselves in the festival experience and enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings.
