The Clans on the Coast Highland Celtic Festival is set to return to the Port Stephens region, bringing with it a vibrant celebration of Celtic heritage and community spirit.
Hosted by the Port Stephens Celtic Association Inc., the festival will take place on Saturday, 21st September, from 8.30am to 4pm at the Lakeside Sports Complex in Raymond Terrace.
Founded by Ron Swan supported by his sister Diane, the festival has been a staple in the community for 14 years, providing a unique opportunity to immerse in Celtic culture.
This year’s festival will continue its tradition of charitable giving by supporting the Starlight Foundation, which works tirelessly to bring joy and comfort to sick children at the John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle. The Starlight Foundation’s mission is to brighten the lives of seriously ill children and their families, creating moments of happiness and relief from the rigours of treatment.
Visitors to Clans on the Coast can expect a day filled with a variety of attractions, including pipe and drum band performances, Celtic music and dance, clans, food and beverage vendors and market stalls.
A highlight of the festival is the spectacular Ceilidh Dinner Dance and Entertainment. This year, it will be held on Saturday night, 21st September from 6pm.
The dinner dance will be held at Raymond Terrace Bowling Club in Jacaranda Avenue, Raymond Terrace.
Port Stephens Celtic Association held a thank you community street parade in Raymond Terrace on December 9th last.
At the event, Clans on the Coast organisers thanked the community for supporting the 2023 festival and acknowledged each of the groups who make Raymond Terrace the special place that it is.
There were free fairground rides and a sausage sizzle, and children had the chance to take a photo with Santa. All donations from this event went to supporting the Rural Fire Service.
Last year’s Clans on the Coast festival drew nearly 4,000 attendees and raised $5,000 for cancer research. The organising committee, led by Ron Swan and supported by vice president Adam Nicholas, hopes to surpass that success this year, enhancing community engagement and raising even more funds for the Starlight Foundation.
Tickets for the event are now on sale at Clans on the Coast website.
