A new British pub has opened in Brisbane and Alex Derrick, owner of The Rose & Crown, shared his excitement on social media days after its grand opening in February.

“I couldn’t be prouder of the team in getting the place up and running since I got the keys five weeks ago,” Derrick enthused, highlighting the dedication of his staff in bringing the establishment to life.

With more than 20 years of experience in the British pub scene, Derrick aimed to infuse The Rose & Crown with the authentic charm of London gastropubs.

“The Rose & Crown is based on classic London gastropubs, which I think is the best fit for South Bank Brisbane,” Derrick explained, drawing inspiration from his extensive experience running pubs across the south of England and Wales.

Featuring traditional British dishes such as fish and chips, sausage and mash, and Scotch eggs, the menu promises patrons a taste of authentic British cuisine.

“I’ve never claimed to be British… but I did spend that time running lots of great independent pubs all over the south of England and Wales,” Derrick shared, reflecting on his background and expertise in the industry.

Looking ahead, Derrick expressed his plans to host various events at The Rose & Crown, including live music performances, quiz nights, and screenings of major sporting events.

As The Rose & Crown embarks on its journey to become a beloved fixture in Brisbane’s dining scene, Derrick extended a warm invitation to all to experience the pub’s unique blend of British charm and Aussie hospitality. You’ll find The Rose & Crown at Southpoint South Bank, 271 Grey Street, South Brisbane.
