Do you fancy a flashback to the Millennium? Remember those days of the Y2K bug, when cheeky Robbie Williams was the biggest popstar on the planet and fashion meant head to toe Abercrombie & Fitch? Well, Brisbane’s best Irish pub, Finn McCools in Fortitude Valley is throwing a Y2K bash this New Year’s Eve where you can relive the early 2000s vibes with iconic tunes, unforgettable fashion, and all the nostalgia. Get ready to party like it’s 1999 and welcome 2024 in style!
If the roaring 20s are more your thing, Finn McCool’s in Surfer’s Paradise, Gold Coast, are having a Great Gatsby New Year’s Eve party. It’s open until 5am and has prizes for best-dressed!
Venues across Australia are doing NYE Scottish-style. The Celtic-themed The Red Lion Tavern in Glencoe, New South Wales, will have lively Hogmanay celebrations. Petar of The Red Lion Tavern told us: “We’ll be celebrating Hogmanay/New Year’s Eve at The Red Lion with a special Scottish menu – topped off with a pint of Tennent’s Lager or a dram of whisky!
“All haggis were freshly caught for this event and we look forward to seeing you at The Red Lion! Bookings essential!” Well now, what sounds better than freshly caught Haggis, fair play to Petar as they’re tricky to catch! 😉
Our columnist The Scotsman Graeme McColgan will be calling a “pure dead brilliant” ceilidh in Launceston, Tasmania on New Year’s Eve, the Hogmanay Hootenanny. We bet Graeme is a dab-hand at catching haggis!
Meanwhile in Western Australia, The Caledonian Society of WA will have a ceilidh in Inglewood. Excitement has been building for this one for months and it’s sure to be a great night.
