Brisbane’s young Celts brought their energy and spirit to Moorlands Park in Auchenflower on Sunday, 18 May, for the inaugural Brisbane Junior Celtic Games — a high-energy celebration of Celtic culture hosted by the Celtic Council of Australia Queensland (CCAQ). The free event was a full day of sport, tradition, and community, welcoming boys and girls up to the age of 16.
With a focus on the eight Celtic Nations — Ireland, Isle of Man, Scotland, Wales, Cornwall, Brittany, Asturias, and Galicia — the games delivered a lively program of activities blending fun with cultural heritage, all set alongside the Celtic Nations Standing Stones.

The morning kicked off with the Junior Kilt and Tartan Races, followed by a three-legged race and sack race, a chance to try out the Junior Caber Toss, and a classic Celtic Tug of War. Participants also stepped into their roots with the Best Dressed in Celtic Attire competition. With free entry, all they needed was enthusiasm, energy, and a water bottle.
From fierce competition to cultural pride, the Brisbane Junior Celtic Games delivered a thrilling day of fun and tradition for young Celts and their families.
