Happy Saint David’s Day to all our Welsh readers, we hope you enjoy celebrating.

It’s also that time of year when many in Australia don the green and turn Irish for a day to join in the St Patrick’s Day celebrations.

The Irish diaspora is a credit to the small nation, with volunteers across the world working hard year-round to promote their culture.

This St Pat’s will be a special one in Brisbane, with the city’s iconic City Hall being lit up in green, white and orange on 16 March, organised by Queensland Irish Association. We are pretty sure this is the first time the building has been lit in the Irish colours and can’t wait to see it in person. It might even bring a proud tear to Irish eyes.

Our front page picture is from the Sydney Saint Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival’s Facebook page. Shout-out to all the volunteers on the festival committee there. It’s hard to add even more wow to Sydney Harbour but somehow, each year, they pull it off with a spectacular festival.

And a big shout-out too to the Irish Australian Heritage Association of WA, who are supporters of this magazine. Thank you so much for the help and encouragement.

Thanks also to Bundanoon Highland Gathering who always share our new editions on social media.

March is dominated by St Patrick’s Day but there are so many other events coming up too. Our February edition covered Saint David’s Day and Saint Piran’s Day events which are also happening at the beginning of this month. You’ll find some of those Welsh and Cornish events in our gig guide and on page 4 of this edition.

All the best, Mary.
