Excitement is mounting for the first-ever Brisbane Celtic Festival. On Sunday, 13th October, Moorlands Park in Auchenflower will burst with the vibrant culture of the Celtic Nations.

This inaugural celebration of Celtic culture, organised by the Celtic Council of Australia Queensland and Brisbane International Tartan Day, promises to be a day of music, dance, and unforgettable traditions.

This free, family-friendly event runs from 9.30am to 4pm, featuring an array of performers including Tom Kimmet, enchanting Welsh tunes with Ceri McCoy, and Finbar & Friends. The Queensland Irish Choir, Moreton Bay Fiddlers and Dominic Ward.

Headlining are the incredible Australian Celtic Women, sure to enchant with their magical melodies, and modern Celtic band Limerick MCB, pictured above, who will delight audiences with stirring tunes.

The day promises more than just music. Dance enthusiasts can enjoy performances from the QIA Irish Dancers, Thistle Highland Dancers, and Manx Dancers. Pipe bands, including the Celtic Nations Pipes and Drums and massed pipe bands, will bring powerful traditional music to life. To top it off, the Brisbane Lord Mayor will make a special guest appearance.

There’s something for everyone, including fun competitions like the Best Celtic Dressed Contest, as well as children’s games such as the kid’s caber toss and Celtic shotput. Festival-goers are encouraged to wear kilts, tartan, or any Celtic attire to embrace the festive spirit.

The Queensland Irish Association will be among the many stands offering information. Visitors can also take a moment to admire the Celtic Nations Standing Stones within the park, a fitting tribute to the shared heritage of these ancient nations.

With limited parking, public transport is strongly recommended.
