The folk in Warwick know how to have the craic. They prove that every winter with their quirky Jumpers and Jazz in July festival, when the city’s trees, statues, and anything else stationary, gets wool-bombed by the area’s knitters. And the local pipe band love to party too – as they proved at the recent Clydesdale Spectacular in Boonah, where they piled into the ferris wheel and played Scotland The Brave for 20 minutes solid! But they take their craft seriously too, so much so that four of their players have secured to coveted spots to perform at the Edinburgh Castle Military Tattoo this year. Full story on page 8.
And speaking of castles, one that’s close to my own heart is Castledonovan in West Cork. My maternal line is O’Donovan and our clan homestead has come up for sale. O’Donovans all over the world are contributing what they can to fundraise for a bid and hopefully, keep the castle in the family. Find out how to help them in their quest on page 9.
Ireland Calling radio program in Sydney interviewed me last month about this magazine and my life story. A big thank you to Tina and all the team there for your support. You can read more about that on page 25.
As always, thanks to everyone who sent in stories. If you have a story you’d like us to feature, email editor@angloandceltic.com.
