The festival promises an unforgettable showcase of folk and Celtic culture, bringing together enthusiasts from far and wide for a jubilant celebration.
Originating more than 40 years ago in Geelong, the festival has evolved into Australia’s premier Celtic gathering, drawing crowds with its vibrant energy and rich traditions. Now firmly established in Portarlington, the festival has become a beloved institution, embodying the spirit of Celtic heritage.
This year’s line-up is more exciting than ever, with a diverse array of cultural showcases spanning Irish, Scottish, Welsh, Cornish, Manx, Breton, Galician, and Asturian influences. From mesmerising music to enthralling workshops and captivating performances, the festival promises a dynamic program that caters to all ages and interests. Among the first artist announcements are festival favourites from across Australia and the world.
Artists include all-Ireland winning fiddle player Dylan Carlos from County Roscommon in Ireland, John McCartin from County Leitrim in Ireland, who was nominated for the Irish national broadcaster RTE’s Folk Award in 2024, and Orlaigh McAuliffe from London, who is one of the leading flute and whistle players in Irish traditional music.
Also performing will be Tim Scanlan and Mna Okubo, Rich Davies, Oceanique, Kejafi, Half Light, Apolline, Amaidi, The Boylans and Claymore.
Spread across 10-plus venues, festival-goers can immerse themselves in the sights and sounds of Celtic culture, enjoying live folk and Celtic music, theatre performances, jam sessions, traditional dances, and more. But the festival isn’t just about music – it’s a feast for the senses.
Explore artisan markets brimming with unique treasures, savour culinary delights from local food trucks, and join in interactive workshops and dance sessions that promise to ignite your passion for Celtic traditions. There will also be hurling, Highland games, workshops, and master classes.
Festival Director Una McAlinden is thrilled to mark this event, promising an unforgettable experience for all attendees. With surprises and special events planned to commemorate the festival’s 20th anniversary, there’s no better time to join in the celebration.
