Sydney St Patrick’s Festival is calling all redheads to unite and join them to find the best ceann (head) in town.

The festival committee shared: “Only 2% of the world’s population have red hair jumping to 10% in the Emerald Isle, so we would like to celebrate the rarest hair type on the planet by uniting all the redheaded Sydney-siders.”

They will be choosing a king and queen of the redheads and best redheaded  family.

They said: “At this festival, red is more than a hair colour — it’s an identity worth celebrating.”

You can register your interest at www.sydneystpatricksday.com.

The four-day St Patrick’s  Festival kicks off on March 14th with Sharon Shannon Big Band.

They’ve also got last year’s performers Sásta back for their free night concert on Saturday, March 16th in First Fleet Park, as well as the parade and festival taking place on Sunday, March 17th.

To help support the festival, you can Sponsor a Shamrock.

This is your opportunity to have your family name and county be a part of the Sydney St Patrick’s Celebrations. You can show your support for the day by having your name and county displayed on a shamrock at the festival on 17th March.

Shamrock prices range from $25 to $100. Book in your shamrock at the festival website before Tuesday, 12th March.

Also part of the festival was Irish Support Agency NSW’s The Rambling Irish Walk that  took place from Centennial Park to Bronte on February 18th. If you’d like to join The Rambling Irish, contact Irish Support Agency NSW
