Queensland Irish Association (QIA) has been at the heart of the Irish community for over 125 years and they have a stacked line-up of St Patrick’s Day events happening this month.
It begins with an Irish History Tour of Toowong Cemetery, which has seen months of preparation by organisers to make it full of great stories. That’s on Sunday, 10th March, beginning at 10am.
The Brisbane St Patrick’s Day parade takes place on Saturday, 16th March at 10.30am and the Association is inviting you to walk in the parade with them. Meet outside the City Botanical Gardens main entrance in Alice Street from 10am.
They also have their St Patrick’s Eve Dinner on Saturday, March 16th at 6pm. For amazing value at $160, you get a three-course meal, five-hour drinks package and the chance to mix with dignitaries at this wonderful event in the Main Auditorium at Brisbane City Hall. The dress code for this event is black tie or lounge suit/after-five wear. You’ll have to be quick to secure a spot as tickets are selling like hotcakes. Email stpatricksevedinner@hotmail.com to secure your spot.
Then, on St Patrick’s Day, 17th March at 11.30am, is the Association’s annual St Patrick’s Day lunch. Admission is free and it will be held at Wests Rugby Club in Toowong. Irish menu and drinks will be available to purchase.
The Association recently held a documentary screening to celebrate Saint Brigid’s Day and around 60 people attended the event at Brigidine College, Indooroopilly.
If you’d like to join QIA, it costs just $20 at http://www.queenslandirish.com.
