Welcome to the November edition of Anglo&Celtic magazine. You can read or download the magazine using the tools above.

This edition is so jam-packed with upcoming gigs and events that we had trouble fitting them all in to our Gigs & Reels gig guide.

There’s a whole army of comedians heading this way, many of whom will be taking part in the Just For Laughs Sydney Comedy Festival and Comedy In The Vines in Victoria. And some of them will also be touring around the country. Here’s just a few of those on their way – Kevin Bridges, Dara Ó Briain, Nina Conti, Leigh Francis, Russell Kane, Joanne McNally, Phil Wang, and Lloyd Langford.

Who can believe that our boy Robbie Williams has been a solo artist for 25 years now? Wow. He’s celebrating the anniversary with a huge tour, called XXV. He’s playing across the country at A Day On The Green events. And playing support will be another legend, Gaz Coombes, former vocalist with Supergrass. Gaz will also be playing solo dates around the country.

Other big names visiting this month will be, of course, Coldplay – who are playing huge headliner gigs in Perth only, former Spice Girl Melanie C doing her first DJ tour, Irish singer-songwriter Dermot Kennedy, legendary rockers Def Leppard, English rapper Example, Irish band The Coronas, Brit Award winner Beth Orton, much-loved Scottish band Deacon Blue, Irish singer Foy Vance, Glasgow singer of Irish rebel songs Gary Óg, and English rock band Bloc Party.

The Irish Film Festival is still touring around Australia and hits Melbourne this month. And also this month, The Cunard British Film Festival will be bringing the finest British filmmaking, production and acting to Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, Canberra and Byron Bay.

There are lots of other festivals to look forward to this month.  Beechworth Celtic Festival has evolved into Beechworth Heritage Festival, that not only celebrates the town’s Celtic heritage but also its Indigenous and Chinese cultures and its heritage trades. Promising fire shows, combat and reenactments, the Viking Festival of South Australia in Victor Harbour looks like it’s going to be awesome. Ballarat isn’t missing out on that reenactment fun either with its Victorian Medieval Festival promising a reenactment village, birds of pray and jousting!

There will be music festivals aplenty, with Maleny Music Festival on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland celebrating its 10th anniversary, Bundanoon in New South Wales is having its first Bundanoon Folk Festival with a great and varied line-up of artists, Victoria’s Maldon Folk Festival is celebrating 50 great years, and Perth can look forward to a Ska and British Music Festival.

We also preview the acts and shows which are heading to Australia in the coming months, such as Riverdance, Dire Straits Legacy, Ralph McTell, Daniel O’Donnell, Iron Maiden, and Dawn French. Our interactive Gig Announcements page takes you to the stories at one click.

We have a two-page feature on St Andrew’s Day, when Australia celebrates all things Scottish. And the big news this year is that the miniature Baronial Castle built in Victoria by Scotsman William Taylor, Overnewton Castle, is hosting its own Scottish Festival for the first time. Gather your clan and get on down to support our friends at the castle on November 26th, they have a massive line-up of acts, artists and activities to suit all ages.

We meet the proud new owners of the Red Lion Tavern in Glencoe, New South Wales who are reclaiming the pub’s Celtic heritage.

We have photo spreads from CelticFest Warwick and the inauguration of the Celtic Nations Standing Stones in Brisbane. And at that event, we snapped a gorgeous photo of Dr Heather Clarke in her beautiful Manx costume which adorns our cover. We have an interview with Heather about Manx culture and dance and what’s being done to preserve it both on the Isle of Man and here in Australia.

This edition is primarily a celebration of humanitarians and community heroes. Princess Diana, the Queens of Hearts. Irish-American billionaire Chuck Feeney who gave millions to Australian causes. Polish explorer Paul Strzelecki who was a hero of the Irish famine. And Queensland’s own Séamus Sullivan, who has devoted his life to serving the Irish community.
