Lisa McGee, the writer of the much-loved TV series Derry Girls, is set to thrill audiences with a brand-new comedy thriller, How To Get To Heaven From Belfast, which has been commissioned by Channel 4 in the UK.

This eight-part comedy series follows the lives of three friends – Saoirse, Robyn, and Dara, who have been inseparable since their school days. Now in their late thirties, their paths have diverged. Saoirse is a successful writer with a knack for self-sabotage, Robyn is a no-nonsense mother of three boys, and Dara cares full-time for her elderly parent, still residing in her teenage bedroom.

Their worlds are turned upside down when they receive an email informing them of the death of Greta, an old classmate. The trio decides to attend Greta’s wake and soon finds themselves entangled in a dark and mysterious web of secrets.

As they navigate the eerie landscape of Belfast and the wilds of rural Donegal, their adventure becomes both terrifying and thrilling, with their own complicated lives often complicating matters further.

This isn’t just a ‘whodunit,’ but a ‘what the hell happened,’ promising an enthralling and humorous exploration of friendship, memory, and life’s unexpected twists.

Lisa McGee, the creative force behind the show, expresses her excitement, saying, “I cannot wait to share these flawed funny women with everyone.”

Charlie Perkins, Head of Comedy at Channel 4, adds, “This is huge,” celebrating the collaboration with Lisa and Hat Trick Productions.

The series is set to be another hit in Lisa McGee’s repertoire, following the immense success of Derry Girls, which has left its mark on audiences worldwide, including here in Australia. Further details, including casting, will be revealed soon, promising more laughs and thrills to come.
