I am delighted to welcome you to the inaugural edition of Anglo & Celtic magazine. In this publication, you’ll find fun and quirky stories highlighting our vibrant communities. From exciting updates on gigs and festivals to features on touring artists from our home countries, we’ll keep things entertaining.
Originally from Cork, Ireland, I now reside in Brisbane. With over two decades of experience in media across Australia, England, and Ireland, I have worked for national and international newspapers,
magazines, and websites. Additionally, I have been a volunteer in the Irish community for many years and currently serve as the public relations officer for the Queensland Irish Association. My role involves creating their newsletter and managing their social media channels. I have also served on various boards, from parades to business groups.
This isn’t my first foray into publishing. In 2012, I founded the Irish Queenslander (IQ) print magazine, which reached a distribution of 7,000 copies per edition and was available from Cairns to northern New South Wales. It featured news from the Irish, British, and Celtic communities. It continues to thrive as a website and social media channels.
Anglo & Celtic incorporates some of the best features from IQ, including lively entertainment and culture stories and an extensive gig guide. As an entirely independent magazine, Anglo & Celtic relies solely on advertising and the support of the public to ensure its success.
I invite you to share your photos, events, and stories with us by emailing editor@angloandceltic.com, and also join our vibrant social media channels. Be sure to check out our website at http://www.angloandceltic.com, where you can subscribe and book advertisements. We plan to evolve the magazine according to your needs and preferences, covering topics such as jobs, visas, backpacking, and including classified and business listings sections.
A special thank you goes out to our current advertisers. If you’re interested in advertising with us, please refer to page 24 of our July issue or see our website to explore our affordable rates.
I have made the decision to make Anglo & Celtic magazine an online publication only. By embracing the digital realm, we can reach a larger audience and share our content far and wide. The best part is, it’s completely free, ensuring accessibility for everyone in our community. Enjoy!
