It’s a busy July that has already kicked off with Aberdeen Highland Games and National Tartan Day on July 1st, as well as Camperdown Robert Burns Festival in Victoria.
Christmas in July celebrations will be on all month, in venues all over the country, including an Irish Christmas in July at Perth Irish Rugby Club on July 15th.
Melbourne Tartan Festival has begun in earnest, with the Kirkin O’ the Tartan service at The Scots Church. Melbourne Tartan Day Parade takes place on July 9. Other highlights include a festival gala dinner and concert on July 22nd.
There’s a first for Darwin with the NT Irish Association organising an Irish Music Festival at the Darwin Ski Club on July 8th. Highlights include Tri Na Ceile, Irish Joe Lynch, Pat McKernan, dancing, sports, food, and plenty to keep children amused with a jumping castle and face painting.
As for tours, Irish Aussie comedian Jimeoin is on the road nationwide. Absolute Bowie, a UK tribute act to David Bowie, are also on tour.
And Queensland Irish Association has organised a screening of the classic Irish film The Quiet Man, to mark the 70th anniversary of its release in Australia. That will take place at Elizabeth Picture Theatre in Brisbane on July 22nd.
And on July 29th, it will be the Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever, with events on countrywide. People will don red gowns and dance and sing in parks around Australia, doing their best Kate Bush impressions. What an amazing spectacle.
